Academic Ethics & AI Disclosure

Last updated: 12 October 2026 · Applies to manuscriptstoodio.com

Manuscript Stoodio is built to support honest research writing. These principles follow widely accepted guidance from COPE, ICMJE and major publishers.

1. You are the author

Manuscript Stoodio is a tool, not an author. AI tools cannot take responsibility for a paper and must never be listed as an author. You are fully accountable for the accuracy, originality and integrity of everything you submit.

2. Check everything

  • Read and verify every sentence, number and interpretation against your own data.
  • Open and confirm every reference. The Service only suggests real papers, but you must confirm each one supports the claim it is cited for.
  • Never add results, data or citations you have not checked yourself.

3. Disclose AI assistance

Most journals require you to state how AI tools were used, usually in the Methods or Acknowledgements. Always follow your target journal’s exact instructions. Word downloads from Manuscript Stoodio include a disclosure reminder. A general example:

During the preparation of this work the author(s) used Manuscript Stoodio, an AI-assisted writing tool, to help structure and edit the text. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.

4. About the similarity check

The built-in similarity check is an exploratory screen. It compares your text only with titles and abstracts of papers found in public databases (OpenAlex, PubMed, Europe PMC) — not full texts, theses, websites or private repositories. It is not proof of originality, does not guarantee any score, and does not replace institutional similarity checks or commercial plagiarism detection services.

5. About the AI-writing check

The machine-writing check highlights general writing patterns only. No tool can reliably prove whether text was written by a person or by AI, and results must never be used as evidence of misconduct.

6. Ethics approvals and data

Studies involving people, animals or sensitive data need the proper ethics approvals and consent. The Service cannot grant, confirm or replace these.
